I’ve Been Part of Their Life
I’ve been in my stepchild’s life for years, but sometimes I still wonder if they know how much I care about them. I hope they do.
It’s Complicated
My stepmother and I have had our good and bad moments. Sometimes I wish she knew that I’m not trying to push her away–I’m just still figuring things out.
I Wish They Knew
I know we’re not a perfect family, but I hope they know I’m still trying. I just want to feel like I truly belong here, too.
Maybe it needs more time?
I’ve been with my stepfamily for a long time, but I’ve never really felt comfortable around them, which I understand.
What I Don’t Say
I don’t always say what I’m thinking because my stepchild might not be ready to hear it. I care more than I show, I’m just not sure how to say it yet.
Trying Not to Overstep
I hold back sometimes because my stepchild might feel like I’m trying to replace someone. I’m just trying to be present without making things harder.
Keeping It In
I don’t bring it up because my stepmother might take it the wrong way. It’s not that I don’t care, I just don’t know how to explain what this feels like sometimes.
Not Sure Where I Stand
I didn’t want to say anything because my stepfather might think I’m being ungrateful or overthinking our dynamic. I just don’t always know where I fit in all of it yet.
